Two-day state level Classical dance workshop by famous Bharathanatyam Dancer Rajasree Warrier

Kalabharathi Foundation for Indian Culture and Heritage is conducting a two-day state level Classical dance workshop by famous Bharathanatyam Dancer Rajasree Warrier on April 25 & 26 at Sahithya Academy Auditorium, Thrissur. The topics covered will be as follows: 

On day one: “Performance and Preparations”
On day two: “Aesthetics of Manodharma in Dance” Admission:
for the workshop is open only for the first 40 registrations. The fees for attending the workshop is Rs. 1000 per person.

Kalabharathi national young dance festival-2013 :


 

The Kalabharathi National Young Dance Festival is a prestigious annual festival launched by Kalabharathi, this year, targeted at exposing Professional Young Indian Classical dancers to the world. The festival, which is first of its kind in ‘God’s own country’, would be the biggest platform for aspiring young professionals, throughout the country. The motto behind the festival is to develop a new India by nurturing the artistic talents of the youth, thereby crafting a “New India Cultural India”.  

The festival will be conducted in three major cities of the culturally rich Kerala which includes : The State Capital- Thiruvananthapuram, The Cultural Capital- Thrissur and The Cultural Hub of Malabar- Kozhikode. The 10 day festival will be hugely publicized gaining maximum benefits for the performers.

The opening and closing ceremonies, and each day of the festival will be honored by the presence of eminent personalities like Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Cultural leaders and Celebrities. There will be massive publicity campaign for the festival through all types of print and visual medias, brochures, Posters, flex boards, hoardings, theatre ads, online promotions, etc., with the photographs of performers . The programme will also be telecast by the regional channels in Kerala. Participation in the event will be a milestone for every dancer in their career as they will be exposed to huge audience and prominent artists.

Rules and Regulations for the Festival :

1.The Festival will showcase the following classical dance styles in solo/group performances:

Bharathanatyam

Kuchupudi

Mohiniyattom

Kathak

Manipuri

Odissi

2.Eligibility: Professional young artists below 35 years of age.

3.Applicants should send a good quality DVD of 15 minutes duration of their performance in the chosen style. The dance should be performed in traditional costume and should consist of both nritha and abhinaya.

4.Applicants for solo performance should send the DVD of solo performance only and for group performance the DVD of group performance to be sent.

5.Performers will be selected by an expert panel by viewing the video clippings of the candidates and the decision of the panel will be final. No enquiries or appeals will be entertained.

6.Applicants should send three recent copy of photographs in traditional dance costume and one passport size photograph.

7.The selected applicants are expected to present the chosen dance style.

8.Applicants selected would be given maximum of 90 minutes. 

9.Maximum of five solo dancers will be honoured by “Kalabharathi Yuva Nritha Prathibha Award”. The awards will be announced at a later date after their performances. 

10.Group performances will not be eligible for the Awards.

11.The Award shall consist of cash prize of Rs. 5000/-, memento and certificate.

12.The awards will be presented in the upcoming Kalabharathi dance festivals to be held at Delhi/Chennai in July/August and the award winners will be given an opportunity to perform in those festivals.

13.Priority is for those who perform with live music and those who don’t perform with live music should mention that in the application.

14.The chosen artists amongst the selected performers, who perform with live music will be paid an honorarium to be decided by Kalabharathi.

15.Selected applicants will be intimated by mail/post by the second week of March.

16.Outstation artists will be provided with food and accommodation, during the dates of their performance.

17.All performers,  will be presented a memento and certificate.

10 day STATE LEVEL KUCHUPUDY WORKSHOP,at Thrissur by Kalaimamani Madhavapeddi Murthy, organised by Navaneetham Cultural trust & Kalabharathi

 

Thrissur: Navaneetham Cultural trust in association with Kalabharathi Foundation is conducting 10-day Kuchupudi workshop at Kalabharathi auditorium, Keralavarma college road, Thrissur from April 1st to 10th by Kalaimamani Madhavapedddy Murthy: delegates will be taught the second set of jathis and items, apart from the basics of kuchupudy. They will also be given recorded audios of the items taught as well as certificates. The final day will witness the performance of all the delegates at Thrissur, infront of a packed audience.

 

 

Madhavapeddi Murthy - Son of the veteran playback singer, Madhavepeddi Sathyam and a senior disciple of the respected dance Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, Murthy has traveled and performed in all major dance festivals in India and all over the world. Noteworthy among them are his performances at Taj Mahotsav, Hampi Utsav, Khajuraho festival, Puri Beach festival, Rajgirh Mahotsav ,Malabar mahotsav ,Ganga Mahotsav, Mamallapuram festival, Ellora festival,Kalidas Mahotsav to name a few and his dance tours of the United States, Canada, France, Belgium Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, former USSR, Turkmenistan, UAE, Indonesia, and Mauritius, He has also performed as a guest artist at the Indo Swiss friendship festival organized as a tribute to Maurice Bejart. He is a regular performer in the dance productions of the film personality, Hemamalini. He is the founder-director of Siva Foundation, a center for dance in Chennai and has received the prestigious Kalaimamani award from the Tamilnadu Government. He has also received several awards like Natya Siromani , Natya Kala Vipanchee, Satya Tandava Sundaram , Rose of Rizwan award etc to name a few. He has performed for several religious events like Brahmotsavams in Tirumala, Thiruchanur, Ardh Kumbh Mela , Maha kumbh Mela at Haridwar, Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba’s 70 th Birthday , Mahamasthakabhishekam of Sravanabelagola etc. He has acted in a few telugu and tamil serials. He has choreographed a dance sequence for the film Manjunatha for mega star Chiranjivi . He has also danced for a dance sequence in K.Viswanath’s swaraabhishekam. He has been invited as a guest lecturer to the University of IOWA recently. He has been appointed as a committee member of Tamilnadu eyal isai nadaga manram (music , dance , drama division) by the Government of Tamilnadu for a period of three years.
